Infection control nursing is a novel specialty in our kingdom which is gaining popularity. The infection control nurse with other members of the team monitors the infection rates through out the hospital and is responsible for making sure the infection control practices mandated are followed. Jeddah National Hospital with its number of inpatients, huge number of procedures and the complexity of the disease conditions is an ideal place to develop your potential in this field. The Infection Control Team (ICT) is a small but proactive and dedicated department supporting and advising the hospital in its commitment to reducing the incidents of healthcare associated infection (HCAI) rates. |

|
The aim of the ICT is to try to prevent the multiplication and spread of micro-organisms in order to prevent infections in both patients and staff. The ICT regularly carry out surveillance and audits in all wards and clinical departments of the hospital covering numerous aspects including both clinical and environmental issues providing recommendations and reports to improve patient care. In high risk areas where infection control is paramount at all times observational studies and patient specific investigations are undertaken as necessary to improve methods to prevent HCAI. |
